I have recently begun working with Polymer clay and have learned a few things in the process that I thought I might share.
WASH YOUR HANDS!
In between working with colors, especially when going from dark to light, wash your hands. Otherwise the dark colors will smear on the lighter ones and taint your clay.
PAPER TOWELS
Before you start working with clay, wash your hands, and use only a Paper Towel to dry your hands, not towels!!! Towels will leave little fibers everywhere and they will get in your clay.
These are just a few things that I have learned, but I thought I would pass them on so others didn't have to learn the hard way.
